The Flowers

Whites, blushes, pinks, corals and reds – Joslyn Peonies grows incredible specialty peonies in the colors today’s brides, floral designers and consumers crave.
How do they make it happen?
Alaska’s warm summers and perpetual daylight are the fuel peonies need to grow larger, bloom more vibrantly and enjoy a growing season that’s three weeks longer than in other locations.
But it’s the state’s famous cold winters that are the secret ingredient: herbaceous peonies need a minimum of 400 hours of temperatures below 40 degrees and tree peonies need between 100 and 300 hours in that colder ground in order to flower.
The blooms are then harvested in all their glory July through September, weather dependent.
The Flower Farm

Joslyn Peonies is a family farm located in Homer, Alaska, on the Kenai Peninsula. At a little over 1,200 feet in elevation, the farm features views of Kachemak Bay and the lower Cook Inlet.
The farm has about 6,000 peonies in the ground each year – all grown organically and processed with the utmost care. The blooms are shipped fresh overnight to the Lower 48 states.
Joslyn Peonies likes to say that they are “9 1/2 hours away from anywhere and everywhere.”
An Extra Tour with Farmer Betty

If you’d like to really get an understanding of peony farming and why these blooms thrive in the unique Alaskan climate at an elevation of 1,200 feet, be sure to register for the VIP Farm Tour when you check out. This tour is an exclusive opportunity for a limited number of guests to join farmer Betty Joslyn for an hour-long tour of Joslyn Peonies. The VIP tour takes place prior to dinner and includes a VIP reception.
